Welcome
Welcome to the Green Scythe Fair Ticket Site, where you can purchase everything you need to access the fair including the pre-fair workshops.
This is a magical one day environmental fair in a beautiful setting on the Somerset Levels run entirely by volunteers using wind, sun and muscle power. Excellent live music, over 100 stalls displaying traditional skills, crafts and produce, lively environmental debates, delicious organic local food, a variety of the best ales and ciders and a large kids area with activities throughout the day.
The Green Scythe Fair includes the celebrated West Country Scythe Championship, known far and wide for the stupendous and often hilarious feats of haymaking by international scythesmen and women, who mow a swathe through the summer festival scene. It is probably the most authentic, and enjoyable, country fair in all England!
Travel
This an environmental event so we discourage driving and encourage (by subsidising) more sustainable means of transport: buses (from Taunton, Yeovil and Wells, as well as en-route towns/villages); cycling and walking, river and horse.
Come by bike to the Fair to really reduce your carbon footprint and enjoy a free bike MOT (first come first served - spaces limited).
EVs get free charging at the campsite but please book when you arrive (also first come first served).
If you do need to drive, we would encoruage you to lift share, where possible.
Parking is onsite, with priority areas for disabled parking and bicycle parking.
More details on our Getting There page.
Camping available
Thorney Lakes campsite is right next to the Green Scythe Fair, but you must book your camping directly with them: www.thorneylakes.co.uk or 01458 250811. It fills up fast, so please book early to ensure your place.
Your responsibility
The Green Scythe Fair is run by volunteers – we take all reasonable steps to make it a safe environment, but we cannot be held responsible or liable for any loss, damage, theft, illness or injury arising at or as a result of the Fair, however caused. Please note that children remain the responsibility of parents/carers at all times.
Dogs
The Green Scythe Fair venue is in a working farm, therefore we would prefer it if you didn’t bring your dog. Please bear in mind some children and adults are scared by dogs, so in a crowded fair this can spoil the day for those folks.
However, if you feel the need to bring your dog, it must be kept on a short lead at all times – this will be monitored by Green Fair staff. All dog waste must be picked up and please use biodegradable bags so it can be composted correctly. If not strictly adhered to you will be politely asked to leave with no redress. Guide dogs, of course, are very welcome.
We look forward to seeing you there!
